How to Take TOEFL in Any Country
TEOFL (Test of English as a foreign language) is an assessment of an individual's proficiency and ability to use the English language. It is usually taken by students that wish to enroll in foreign institutions that use English as a first language. The test can be taken by anyone and the good thing is that it can now be taken from many places around the world.
Taking the TOEFL :-
As mentioned already, the Test of
English as a foreign language can be taken from almost anywhere in the world.
The test is accepted and recognized by many countries, numbering well over 130.
The test, due to its worldwide credibility is taken in over 200 countries
around the world. The main reason for taking the TOEFL is most likely to enroll
into a foreign institution that requires the ability to understand and use the
English language during tuition and any other necessary communications.
If your reason for taking the test is
for admission, there are two formats of the test namely; TOEFL IBT and TEOFL
PBT. The difference between these two is that IBT is written online rather than
on physical paper. Most countries offer both the IBT and PBT but, in most
cases, the IBT is the first preference and, in some cases, the PBT might also
not be available.
Registration :-
To be able to take the test, you should
register first. The test requires payment of the registration fee to be paid
upfront before the exam. The average fee that people pay to take the test is
about 190 United States dollars bit it can be as high as 220 United States
dollars in other countries. This, however, varies depending with the place you
plan on taking the test in. In countries where the USD is not a legal trading
currency, you might have to pay using your local currency.
The payment of the fee is part of the
registration process. The registration process can be done online or using the
post. Online registration can be done on the TOEFL website; www.ets.org and navigating
to the register option. The registration form should be completed accurately to
prevent mistakes which may be difficult and time consuming to rectify. The
online application form should be submitted 7 days before the day of the test
for it to be valid.
For the mail registration, the application
form, which is a physical form, should be completed and submitted in time. The
registration is only valid if the ETS receives the registration form 4 weeks
before the date that the test is supposed to be taken. When it comes to
registration by mail, the addresses you should mail the registration forms are
different depending on the area you wish to take the test in. Some countries
have their own TEOFL registration offices and some countries use TOEFL
registration offices. Registration can also be done via the phone.
During the registration process, a form of identification should be shown. The documents vary depending on the country you are writing your TOEFL in. The standard requirement is usually a national identification card with a photograph of the prospective candidate. The ID should also be presented on the day of the exam.
